[Tag] The Blogger Made Me Buy It!

I spotted this post a while back on Ellie’s Ramblings  and I’m excited to finally be doing the tag on Lipsticks & Coffee (:

The Blogger Made Me Buy It Tag

The Blogger Made Me Buy It Tag

1) Who are your most influential bloggers? Who are the ones that you really rely on for reviews and swatches?

Temptalia has got to be my favorite blog for swatches as they are such good quality. For reviews, Kaushal Beauty was one of the first blogs I followed and her blog remains one of my favorites. Her reviews are always on point and her videos and pics are pretty amazing too.

2) Do you buy a product solely as a result from one review from your favourite bloggers, or do you look for more reviews from others?

If I spot a product I’m interested in buying on a blog, I do a google search to look at other reviews and swatches. I also skim through the ratings on Beauty Heaven and Makeup Alley, my two favourite websites for beauty reviews. I tend to do this for almost all products I buy, I think I enjoy the ‘research’ almost as much as the actual purchase!

3) What is your most favourite item that you have ever bought as a consequence of blogs?

My Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation, which deserves every bit of love and rave reviews that it receives from bloggers ♥ I also love my Real Technique Expert face brush which I probably would not have picked up if I hadn’t read about it on a blog.

4) What is your least favourite item that you have ever bought as a consequence of blogs?

Maybelline Colossal Volume mascara! I have read SO MANY rave reviews on this mascara but I’m far from impressed, it doesn’t provide huge volume like the Falsies did and tends to get all over my eye lids.

5) Name 5 products you have bought recently as a result of blogs.

  • Trilogy rosehip oil antioxidant plus
  • Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water
  • Maybelline Volum’ Express Falsies Flared
  • Maybelline Baby Lips
  • Benefit’s Do The Bright Thing (purchased for the mascara!)

6) Have you ever given into blogger hype? If so, which hype?

The Revlon Matte Balms. And I’m glad that I did because ‘Sultry‘ has been my to-go-for shade since I purchased it.

7) Have you ever avoided blogger hype? If so, which hype?

There was a stage a few months back when every blogger was reviewing Benefit’s Gimme Brow. It does seem like an amazing product but not something I really need so I’m glad I didn’t succumb to the hype.

8) Is everything you buy based on blogger reviews or are there some items you buy without checking out a review?

I’m careful with my spending so I don’t often impulse buy, I usually know what I want and then wait for it to go on sale. That being said, I do tend to pick up smaller items like shampoos and makeup removers and without checking out a review first.

If you’re reading this tag, I tag you to do it too! Let me know in the comments if you’ve done this tag so I can read your answers 🙂

[Tag] What’s on my bed side table

Last week Varinder from MAKE UP ME AND YOYO tagged me in a post she created called “What’s on my bed side table”. Her post was an overview of what she keeps on her bedside table and her night time routine. The tag looked really fun so today I’m sharing pictures of what my bedside tables look like.

What's on my bedside table tag

Bedside table #1:

  • Coaster for the million cups of coffee that I drink
  • A scented candle
  • Lamp for when I wake up at 3am and I’m scared to walk to the bathroom in the dark
  • Magazines like Good Health or Women’s Health because the articles are fantastic
  • Body Shop born lippy lip balm in Raspberry which smells absolutely amazing
  • Mor hand cream in Marshmallow (reviewed here) for when my hand’s feel dry
  • BioNike Defence B-Lucent, the only product that actually helps fade my dark spots
  • The Body Shop tea tree oil to soothe and heal any blemishes

I have two bed side tables in my room, with the one on the right side of the bed being the main table. I hate having clutter on it so during the day, it only has a lamp, candle and coaster on it. In the evenings I have a magazine there, I’m reading the April issue of Good Health at the moment. I’ve also included the products I use just before going to bed every night in the picture above.

Bedside table #2:

This is mostly used as a place to store my handbag on but I picked up recipe books from the library and wanted them where I could access them easily.

Thank you Varinder for tagging me! I’m tagging everyone who reads this post, don’t forget to leave a link below if you’ve done the tag so I can check out your post 🙂

[Tag] Seven Deadly Sins of Beauty

7 deadly sins of beauty

7 deadly sins of beauty

I’ve been seeing this post pop up on blogs that I follow and even though I haven’t been officially tagged, it looked too fun to pass up on.

So here’s my take on the seven deadly sins of beauty:

Greed: What’s your most expensive and inexpensive beauty item?

My most expensive beauty item is the Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation, retail price $50. Most of my makeup items are drugstore but foundation is the one item that I believe is worth spending more on.

Least expensive is a Maybelline mascara I picked up for under $1 because the store was clearing them out.

Wrath: What item do you have a strong love/hate relationship with?

My liquid eyeliner! Some days it looks perfect and other days I keep messing it up. I don’t seem to be getting better with practice 😦

Gluttony: What are your most delicious beauty products?

Mor marshmallow cream because it smells absolutely yummy and my MAC lipstick because it smells like vanilla ♥

Sloth: What product do you ignore the most due to laziness?

Concealer for my blemishes, although I think it’s more because I can’t apply it properly than laziness.

Pride: Which product gives you the most confidence?

Again, my ELDW foundation because if my skin looks decent then I don’t really care about anything else 🙂

Lust: What item is at the top of your list?

The Lancome Hypnose mascara, but I would never buy it because I’d never be able to justify the $52 price tag.

Envy: Which makeup product/look looks great on others but not on you?

Nude lips, possibly because I haven’t found a suitable shade for my skin tone. Also the Sleek Contour Kit, I can’t get it to work for me!

I hope that you’ve enjoyed today’s post! Tagging all my readers ,  I would love to see your answers to this post x

The Lipstick Tag

Thank you to the lovely Sarah from All Her Pretty Things  for tagging me in the lipstick tag! Her blog is one of my favourites and her post looked like so much of fun so I couldn’t wait to try it too.
1. How many lipsticks do you own?

Just 12! I was a lip gloss kind of girl until recently, when I discovered the rush that comes with wearing a gorgeous color lipstick 🙂 Since then, I’ve been building my lipstick collection.
2. What was the first lipstick you owned?
Rimmel lipstick in 067 rich raisin (pictured). My mum gave me this lipstick, I only started buying my own lipsticks recently.
3. What is your favourite lipstick brand?
Rimmel because they have such gorgeous colors at affordable prices. I also love MAC, they have something to suit everyone and their lipsticks feel so beautiful on the lips.
4. What is your most worn lipstick?
My all time most used worn lipstick is Images lipstick in Carnival (pictured). This brand has been discontinued and I can’t find a replacement shade so been trying to save it just for special occasions.
Recently I’ve been reaching for Rimmel lipstick in 016- Heart breaker (pictured).  The color is lovely and feels comfortable on the lips.
 5. What is your favourite finish?
I’m a fan of satin or creamy finishes because of the easy application and moisturizing texture.
6. What was the last lipstick you bought?
Rebel by MAC ♥
7. How many lip products do you currently have in your bag?

Just three because I hate my bag being heavy. I usually keep a lip balm, a lip gloss and the lipstick I’m wearing for the day.

8. What is your favourite red lip colour?
Ruby Woo by MAC is on my lust list, the shade is stunning and looks good on most skin tones.
9. How do you store your lipsticks?
I store it in a drawer with the rest of my everyday makeup, it’s next to my mirror and easy to access when I’m doing my makeup in the mornings. The containers that my lipsticks and eye products are in are just the tins that a Fossil wallet came in. I’ve just been gifted with a makeup storage holder so will be transferring my things to that soon 🙂
The rest of my makeup (eye palettes, lip glosses, face powders) are stored in a cosmetic case because I don’t use them very often.

10. Which lipsticks are you currently lusting after?

  • Ruby Woo by MAC
  • Captive by MAC
  • Eurydice by Illamasque
  • Plum Velour by Revlon

I have yet to swatch any of the lipsticks listed above so these are just based on blog reviews.
