I was first introduced to Sleek Makeup last year when I came across their contour kit and their rose gold blush which was often referred to as a dupe of the famous Nars Orgasm blush. I purchased both products, fell in love with them (read about it here) and haven’t looked back.

I absolutely LOVE Sleek Makeup packaging, all their products come in sturdy matte black cases with mirrors included. I actually prefer their packaging to higher end brands like MAC, it looks so expensive and classy for a drugstore product.

The Sleek Bronze Block is available in two shades, light and dark. I picked up the dark option, which consists of four complementary shades of blush and bronzer that can be used individually or together.

Here’s what Sleek Makeup have to say about the bronze block:

Get that sun-kissed glow all year-round! This highly versatile bronzer combines four complementary shades for a swirl that gives you a natural radiant complexion.

  • The darker shades can be used alone to enhance a tan, while the lighter shades alone can naturally illuminate skin

  • The subtle shimmer particles and the beautiful pink hue add a refreshed glow to the skin

  • Long-lasting velvety smooth texture

  • Blends effortlessly on all skin tones

If you’ve tried Sleek products before, you’ll know that their products are super pigmented. This product is no different, with the one swipe packing a whole punch of color. A little goes a long way with this product, I find that the best way to apply it with is with a larger brush and slowly, building on the color as necessary. It took me a few times to get the hang of how to apply it but now that I have I’m completely obsessed and in love!

The formula has a hint of has a hint of shimmer in it, however it doesn’t appear too much when applied on the skin. The Sleek website says that the pink hue can be used alone as a blush, however because of the size of the block I find it hard to apply a single product at once. This doesn’t bother me much though, I love the color achieved when swirling my brush in all four colors together.

Another thing to love about this product is the price tag, it’s $11.49 USD but even with currency conversion and shipping costs it’s a better option than a lot of the other drugstore brands available. Overall if you’re after a gorgeous sun-kissed glow or just radiant skin, this is definitely a product to consider.

Sleek Rose Gold Sleek Contour Kit Medium Review

Sleek Contour Kit (Medium)

I came across the Sleek Contour kit for the first time on Mango Whirl’s  blog sometime last year and pretty much fell in love with the product at first sight.

Sleek products are not available in Australia so I had to buy mine online from the Sleek website. Fortunately, the prices were reasonable and shipping was only a few dollars. I blogged about my online shopping haul a few months back here.

I’m a MAC NC 40 and was undecided whether to go with the medium or dark kit. I opted for the medium because I was a newbie to contouring and didn’t want anything overly dramatic. The medium kit shows up really well on my skin so I’m glad that I selected the right shade.

The kit itself is pretty awesome and is easy to use. It took me a few attempts to get the hang of it, it kept looking muddy at first because I was using too much of product.  The bronzer is completely matte, is highly pigmented and blends easily. The highlighter is a soft gold shade which is not over the top shimmery. The product lasts all day with minimal fading.

I’ve read reviews where this product has been called a dupe for Benefit’s Hoola but I haven’t tried Hoola so can’t do a comparison. The packaging of this product is sturdy, it’s affordable and it’s fantastic quality, I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to start contouring.

Sleek Blush in Rose Gold

The rose gold blush is one of Sleek’s more famous blush colors, and is hailed as being a dupe for NARS Orgasm.

The color of the blush is a soft peach pink with gold highlights. When applied on my skin, it has mostly gold and the pink is non existent. I suspect that those with a skin color lighter than NC 35 will have the pink show up better.

The blush is highly pigmented like the contour kit and has the same sturdy packaging which I love.

For under $10, I think that this blush is pretty amazing. Sleek have an impressive range of blushes to suit almost any skin tone so I’m keen to try out more of their blushes in the future.

[Haul] Online Shopping

I ordered some items from Cherry Culture , iHerb and Sleek makeup a few weeks back and they arrived last week so I thought that I’d do a quick post on what I bought.

Cherry Culture

  • Ardell Demi Wispies false lashes
  • Ardell LashGrip glue for false lashes
  • LA Girl Pro Concealer in Honey
  • LA Girl Pro Concealer in Fawn

I’ve been wanting to try false lashes for ages and the Demi Wispies kept coming up with good reviews so I decided to give them a try. The LA Girl Pro Concealers were only $2.50 so I ordered two shades, Honey and Fawn, which were the shades recommended by other bloggers with a NC 44 skin tone. I will probably be doing a review on them once I start using them to see if they really are as good as the higher end brands, like some people claim. Keep a look out for that! Shipping costs for my Cherry Culture order were around $13 (more than my total order cost!)  and I received my order after three weeks.

Sleek Makeup

  • Contour Kit in Medium
  • Blush in Rose Gold

Nothing more needs to be said on the contour kit as I’m sure every blogger has heard at least something good about this product. I played around with this kit this morning and to be honest I think I was using the wrong brush. If anyone has any brush recommendations or tips, do let me know (:  The blush in rose gold is a beautiful pink and would suit most skin tones in my opinion. I will be doing swatches on the Sleek products soon! Shipping on my Sleek order was just $2.50 (SCORE!!) and my order was delivered after three weeks.

iHerb

  • Real Techniques Expert Face Brush

I’ve started using this brush and it is absolutely AMAZING!! It’s definitely worth the hype that it’s been getting. I love how it makes blending so easy and gives the foundation such a flawless finish.

If you’re ordering off iHerb for the first time, don’t forget to claim your $5 discount using the code GPN525. For orders over $40, the discount is $10. I paid $4 for the brush after receiving my discount, and the shipping cost was $4. I really didn’t mind waiting the three weeks for my order to reach me.

And that’s it!! I think I definitely need a spending ban after these last few hauls. No more shopping for this girl 🙂 I’m just going to be finishing up what I already have.

2014 Wishlist

CollageFirst post of 2014! I hope that everyone has been having a fantastic year so far. I’ve been busy reading all the “best/favorite beauty products of 2013” posts, which inspired me to start a list of items that I would love to try in the upcoming year.

Benefit They’re Real! mascara

I love dramatic, voluminous lashes so I’m keen to find out if this mascara is really worth the hype.

Sleek Makeup Contour Kit

This kit has got the thumbs up from some of my favorite beauty bloggers so it’s definitely one of the items I’m hoping to try this year.

Real Techniques Expert Face Brush

I currently apply foundation using my fingers because I’m not comfortable with foundation brushes. This brush apparently makes blending easier and gives a flawless finish. I’ve already placed an order for this brush so expect a review soon 😉

Maybelline The Colossal Volum Express mascara

I have the Maybelline Falsies mascara and it’s working really well for me, I’d like to try this mascara for comparison purposes.

MAC lipstick in Rebel

This might be my first MAC lipstick ever! The color is gorgeous and it’s a shade I can see myself wearing often.

The Body Shop Vitamin C Microdermabrasion

I have dark marks on my face from acne scarring, think my skin could benefit from a bit of this product.

Benefit Benetint

I haven’t tried anything from Benefit before but this renowned item makes it to my wishlist.
