Mecca// Myer Perth + Haul

Hi everyone!

Last week I was down at Myer Perth for the opening of the new Mecca counter. The open day promised lots of exciting prizes, including MECCA gift cards, deluxe samples, NARS lipsticks and Stila palettes. I got there at around two pm, and the line was CRAZY long. It was my first time shopping at Mecca, which is a bit embarrassing because I’m always buying makeup and beauty stuff!

The girls at Mecca were so lovely, my favorite part about the whole experience was that they were more than happy to give out samples. I always like testing out foundations before I buy it, but hate asking for samples because some assistants act like the samples are being paid out of their own salary. Or that I’m asking for too much by wanting to try a $60 foundation before I buy it.

Anyway back to Mecca! I was interested in the NARS sheer glow after reading so many rave reviews. I spoke to the assistant for a bit about the foundation, was color matched to the shade Syracuse and decided to go ahead and buy the foundation. I also asked for a sample of the Smashbox foundation and another NARS foundation. I was interested in trying the Too Faced Born This Way too but it hadn’t yet arrived in store.

Unfortunately by the time I waited in the queue and paid, they had run out of prizes which I was super gutted out. I did however get a Beauty Loop box which consisted of the items below:

  • Too Faced cocoa powder foundation sample
  • Too Faced shadow insurance sample
  • Ciate mini nail polish in Party Shoes
  • Ren Invisible Pores detox mask sample

Overall, I am super excited with the opening of Mecca in Myer. I pretty much felt like a kid in a candy store in there! This is also my first time trying NARS so I look forward to trying and reviewing the foundation soon 🙂

Until next time

Priceline Haircare Haul

Hi everyone! 🙂

I’ve been MIA for the past few weeks because of CPA exams but I’m done for the year now so hopefully that will mean a lot more time for blogging.

Priceline recently had a 50% off haircare sale so I used the opportunity to pick up on a few items. My hair has been really dry lately because of the ombre, and hasn’t been looking that healthy either. From the items below, I have only previously tried a sample of the L’Oreal Extraordinary Oil which I absolutely loved. I selected the items below because I liked the brands, will do a complete review once I have trialled them for long enough.

L’oreal Paris Extraordinary Oil 100 mL $9.99
L’oreal Paris Elvive Extraordinary Oil Nutrition Balm Mask 300 mL $4.97
Schwarzkopf Extra Care Deep Nutrition Intensive Care Mask 250 mL $4.49
Schwarzkopf Extra Care Ultimate Oil Elixir Conditioner 400 mL $1.75
Schwarzkopf Extra Care Ultimate Oil Elixir Shampoo 400 mL $1.75
Schwarzkopf Extra Care Ultimate Repair Shampoo 400 mL $1.75
Schwarzkopf Extra Care Ultimate Repair Conditioner 400 mL $1.75

There was a whole lot of new brands that I would have also liked to try like the OGX , Tony & Guy and Alchemy ranges, however I’m still a bit undecided if the more expensive products deliver that much more on performance and quality.

On a side note, I have committed to slathering my hair with coconut oil for one night every week and so far it has been working so well!! It’s a great way to bring life back to damaged hair and I’m also hoping that it will make my hair grow back faster.

I’m super excited to have a play with these new hair bits and report back on the blog.

What have you purchased lately? Did you get any haircare things in the Priceline haircare sale?

Overseas Shopping Haul!

Hi everyone!

My parents were recently overseas in Canada so I asked them to pick up a few beauty items which we don’t get here in Perth.

Bath and Body Works

I have heard so many good things about Bath and Body Works, so was ridiculously excited to try their products. The products below is the collective haul between my mum, sister and I. I would have also liked to try their candles but bag weight was an issue so maybe next time! I can’t wait to try the products, and compare it to the body shop which is what I mostly use. The good news for my Australian readers is that Bath and Body Works is set to open their first store this year in Australia at Sydney airport. I’m hoping that this means a lot more stores in Australia over the next few years!

Sephora

Another shop that I super keen on trying was Sephora. We don’t have a Sephora in Perth, and it’s always been a hype here in Australia but the prices on the website didn’t look that much cheaper than Australia so I only asked for the Sephora Cream Lip Stains which I have heard SO MANY good things about. I picked up the colors below:

  • 01 Always Red
  • 03 Strawberry Kissed
  • 13 Marvelous Mauve

I’ve heard a lot of people say that Marvelous Mauve is a dupe for Stila’s Patina so I’m looking forward to wearing this lip stain.

MAC

We do get MAC here in Australia but the prices in Canada were so much cheaper! The lipsticks were $20 each (usually $36 in Australia), pictured below are two nude shades Twig and Spirit. I also bought a cream color base in Hush.

That brings us to the end of the haul! I’m definitely on a spending ban after all this, I have a ton of beauty products that are still unopened in my collections and are waiting to be loved and reviewed! Let me know in the comments below if you have tried any of these products, or would like me to review any of the products mentioned.

[Picture Heavy] My trip to South Africa!

I hope that everyone has been having an amazing February! I recently spent a month in South Africa, the weather was gorgeous and it was fantastic spending time with family and old friends again. I ate lots of good food (too much in fact), relaxed and took advantage of the strong Aussie dollar by squeezing in some shopping.

Body Shop haul!

Body Shop haul!

Estee Lauder was around the same price as in Australia, but I picked up the foundation because they stock my shade in Australia. I actually had no idea that they did a compact concealer, it’s probably the first product that I’ve purchased without doing heaps of research first! And I picked up the mascara for around $38 because it came with a free liner and eye cream.

MAC was considerably cheaper, the lipsticks worked out to $20 each. I weep thinking at what I paid for my Studio Fix foundation at Myer last year!

Lastly no haul is complete without The Body Shop! I already had a Body Shop stash at home so just purchased a few shower gels.

I’ve been wanting to try Maybelline’s rocket masacara for ages, but it hasn’t been available here. I’m a huge fan of Maybelline mascara’s so looking forward to trialling it soon 🙂

OTHER PICS (more…)

[Haul] The Body Shop

The Body Shop is my all time favorite brand so when my brother was in South Africa last month, the only items I requested him to bring back for me were products from TBS. The Body Shop is a fraction of the cost there than it is in Australia and they also have amazing sales and specials like 3 for 2 running through out the year.

I love TBS’s body butters, lip balms and hand creams but I’m currently trying to use up the products that I already own in my stash so I didn’t stock up on those. With the exception of the tea tree oil, all items below are products that I haven’t tried before and were bought based on blogger reviews.

First up are the products from the tea tree range. I already have a bottle of TBS Tea Tree Oil and I love it so this bottle is a repurchase. The Skin Clearing Foaming Cleanser and Blemish Fade Night Lotion are targeted at people with blemish prone skin and helps to keep the skin blemish free, calm and smooth.

Next is the Seaweed Pore-Cleansing Facial Exfoliator and the Seaweed Deep Cleansing Facial Wash from the seaweed range. I’ve already started using the exfoliator and it is seriously the best exfoliator ever!

Lastly I purchased the Ginger Anti-Dandruff shampoo which I’ve read really good reviews about. I haven’t tried any of the shampoos or conditioners from TBS so will be interested to see how I go with this.

The rest of the items (Almond Shower Gel, Camomile Cleansing Oil, Litchi Blossom Shower Gel and Vitamin E Moisture Lotion) were all generously gifted to me by friends and family. Like all Body Shop products, they smell amazing 🙂

I am currently still working my way through my old skin care products but am definitely looking forward to using these products soon. Reviews will be posted soon after 😉

What are your favourite products from The Body Shop?

[Haul] Chemist Warehouse

Hi guys!

A few months ago, Chemist Warehouse had a 50% off Maybelline offer and a $2 shipping offer going on at the same time. I ordered a few items and took the photo below with the intention of blogging about my haul, but never got down to it. However since I’ve been using the products I bought for the better part of winter and loving them, I figured that a review post was long overdue.

I’m probably the last person in the world to try the Maybelline Master Precise liquid eyeliner but omg it is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. I find it super easy to apply, the color is dark black on application, it doesn’t fade or smudge during the day and can be removed easily. In other words, everything that I could ever want in a liquid eyeliner ♥

The Trilogy rosehip oil has been my absolute winter skin saviour. I’ve been applying it on most nights after I shower, my skin just soaks it in. You only need a few drops for your entire face, I learnt this the hard way! Although it hasn’t faded my blemishes much, my skin has been clear, soft and super hydrated.

The oil also came with the Trilogy Ultra Hydrating Face Cream, a thick and luxurious cream which is easily absorbed and smells really gorgeous. I always use the rosehip oil on it’s own (with no cream after) so on the nights that I don’t use the oil, I have been using this cream. Both Trilogy products have been working really well on my skin and have been lovely to use.

I’m in a love/hate relationship with the Maybelline Colossal Volume mascara. The mascara gives me huge awesome lashes but is complete pain to apply, the wand is massive and I keep getting product all over my eyelids. Not cool. I’ve been using this only on weekends now, when I have time to be really careful and not mess up my face completely. If anyone has any tips for using this mascara, do drop me a comment below!

I picked up the Byphasse cotton pads for around $4 and they’re doing a decent job of removing my makeup without disintegrating or turning fluffy like some other brands do. Will definitely be repurchasing.

Lastly I have been enjoying using the Garnier Clean Sensitive Gentle Cleansing Milk.  It does an excellent job of removing all my makeup with just one swipe, and doesn’t leave my skin feeling oily or dirty.

I would repurchase all the items above except maybe the Maybelline Colossal Volume. And while we’re on the topic, how amazing is Chemist Warehouse in general?! The perfume prices are SO GOOD and I get most of my makeup at 50% off (which means I can buy even more makeup :P)

Have you tried any of the products reviewed above?

Mini Beautorium Haul [April 2014]

Beautorium Haul April 2014

Beautorium Haul April 2014

I received my Beautorium order on Tuesday, after two weeks of me coming home asking “has it arrived yet??”  ♥

For my non Aussie followers, Beautorium is an event held by my favourite beauty website, Beauty Heaven. Beauty Heaven is awesome because it rewards members loyalty points for participating in a range of activities across the site such as posting reviews and comments. Beautorium is an event held by Beautyheaven which allows members to redeem their loyalty points for beauty products.

I placed my order on the last day of Beautorium (21 April) and received my order on Tuesday  (6 May). My products were packaged neatly and nothing was damaged so I was thrilled (:

Here’s what I scored:

SkinB5 Acne Control Cleansing Mousse (345 points)– I love cleansers which come in a pump bottle and foam up and my current cleanser is just about finishing so I ordered this. It has a 5 star rating on BH (based on 5 reviews) so I’m looking forward to using this mousse.

Face of Australia Mineral Therapy Illuminator – Angel Mist (225 points)- I’ve been wanting an illuminator for ages and never got down to buying one so was pretty happy to see this offered (:

I had my eye on the Kosmea Replenshing Moisture Cream and the People for Plants Night Cream but in the end I decided to save the rest of my points for the next beautorium.

And like that wasn’t already good enough, BH threw in some freebies..

  • Lapurete Okuru Facial and Toner
  • Lady Jayne Digital Romance Hair Ties
  • Glameyes Miranda Lashes

I didn’t receive the Vagisil Feminine Wash and Lapurete Night Cream sample which others received probably  because I placed my order in late. I was lucky to still receive the three items above! BH are always generous with their freebies and this beautorium was no different.

This was my first beautorium and I can definitely see what the hype on the BH forums for beautorium has been about. I paid $4.95 for shipping and received everything else just by redeeming points! The whole experience was positive and I can’t wait to participate in the next beautorium.

What did you order from Beautorium? x
